USC football recruiting updates: Tashon Smallwood, Leonard Fournette, J.T. Gray & more

Stephen Dunn

The USC Trojans have a busy week with their summer camp, and the recruiting news is rolling in from the 2014 and 2015 classes.

Fresno (Ca.) Central East defensive tackle Tashon Smallwood is committed to USC, but he just recently tweeted a top 5 of Miami, UCLA, USC, Alabama, and Arizona State. Recruiting is weird.

Claremont (Ca.) OL Jordan Austin got a USC offer and committed on the spot. Austin is being recruited to play right offensive tackle and expects to enroll in January at USC.

Corona (Ca.) Centennial defensive end Jaylen Johnson earned a USC scholarship after the Rising Stars morning competition. Johnson has offers from over 75% of the Pac-12 schools.

Chandler (Az.) Basha athlete J.T. Gray has a similar offer list, and he lists the Trojans as the current team to beat.

Bellflower (Ca.) St. John Bosco offensive lineman Damien Mama was also at USC for the Rising Stars Camp. Mama has offers from all but two Pac-12 schools.

San Marcos (Ca.) Mission Hills outside linebacker Fred Warner is currently committed to BYU, but the USC offer might make him rethink matters.

Berkeley (Ca.) linebacker Michael Lazarus enjoyed his camp trip to USC. Also in attendance was current LSU commit and Westlake (La.) tight end Jacory Washington, as well as Chandler (Az.) Hamilton defensive end Qualen Cunningham.

Three 2015 quarterbacks also showed up: Josh Rosen from Bellflower (Ca.) St. John Bosco, current USC commit David Sills from Elkton (Md.) at Eastern Christian Academy, and Ricky Town from Ventura (Ca.) St. Bonaventure.

New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette is the top 2014 prospect and is camping at USC this week. Fournette does have a USC offer, but the battle is probably between Alabama and LSU.

El Cajon (Ca.) Grossmont C.C. wide receiver Nick Kurtz took an unofficial visit to USC.

2015 Glen St. Mary (Fl.) defensive tackle CeCe Jefferson picked up a USC offer at the Rising Stars Camp and has the Trojans in his top five. Jefferson also received a UCLA offer earlier this week and has offers from big schools like Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Louisville.

2015 Missouri City (Tex.) linebacker Cameron Townsend has a Trojan offer; Townsend does have the home state Texas offer, but the Trojans figure to make it into the mix.

2015 Culver City (Ca.) athlete Stanley Norman lands a USC offer. Norman has offers from schools like UCLA, Utah and Washington State.

2015 Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Academy defensive tackle T.D. Moton recently received a USC offer ($). Moton has offers from schools like Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
