Cal, USC Most Disappointing Pac-12 Teams Of The Week

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

The California Golden Bears and USC Trojans are the most disappointing Pac-12 teams of the week after falling to Utah and Arizona respectively.

Who was the team with the most disappointing performance this week and why?

Jack Follman, Pacific Takes
- USC. I truly think Arizona is becoming a very good team and getting them on the road the week before the Oregon showdown was a classic trap, but USC's season is now officially a disappointment. How poorly USC handled Arizona's hurry-up offense is also a horrible sign for how they will do next week against Oregon. Most of all though, it takes a ton of the luster off of next week's game against the Ducks that was going to give the Pac-12 a lot of attention.

Trevor Wong, Conquest Chronicles
- USC. It wasn't so much that they lost, but how they pretty much just gave Arizona the game. You can't expect to win with that many penalties and that many turnovers, especially on the road.

David Piper, Addicted to Quack - Oregon State. The Beavers rushed Sean Mannion back far earlier than was necessary, and a hobbled Mannion threw four picks as Oregon State lost to a horrible Washington team they had no business losing to. To make matters worse, Cody Vaz was very effective in relief of Mannion and has been named the starter against ASU. The Beavers have a full fledged quarterback controversy on their hands.

Andy Wooldridge, Building The Dam - California. The Bears had every reason to respond with some life after being beat up by Stanford. If it was possible, they were even worse against a Utah team that had been struggling as well. The Utes played the way Cal should have. The Bears should have saved on travel and stayed home; they didn't do any more than if they had.

Adam Butler, Pacific Takes & Pac Hoops
- This is a tough one because it's hard to point a finger at USC or Oregon State or ASU who all lost as favorites, but each was a tough game and to a worth adversary. But when push comes to shove, a team penalized for 117 yards and coughing it up five times is just plain old disappointing.

Scott Allen, Rule of Tree: Stanford
. The Cardinal allowed Washington State -- a team that lost to Colorado at home -- come within nine yards of forcing overtime or going for the game-winning two-point conversion on its final drive. Josh Nunes was terribly ineffective (7 for 15, 135 yards) and the normally reliable Stepfan Taylor totaled only 58 yards on 21 carries against a defense that gave up more than 300 yards to Cal two weeks ago. While the Cardinal defense shut down the Cougars' weak rushing attack, Jeff Tuel had a huge day through the air.

Anthony Cassino, UW Dawg Pound - Cal. The game against Utah was basically a must-win to get to a bowl, and they stunk up Rice-Eccles. Getting blown out because you couldn't cover a kickoff to save your life and put the ball on the ground in a do-or-die game is exactly as disappointing as it sounds.

Sean Reynolds, Block U - Cal. I know they're struggling, but I expected a better effort than they displayed Saturday. It was an important game and they really failed to show up.

Jon Woods, Ralphie Report - Has to be Cal. We saw Utah turn their season around in the second-half of the conference season last year, but this Utes team had struggled in a whole different way. To allow the Utes to put up 49 points is inexcusable.
