Will this be Chip Kelly's final year in the Pac-12, or is he coming back to torture everyone again?
Avinash Kunnath, Pacific Takes & California Golden Blogs: If he wins the national championship, he's gone. Even if he doesn't win it, I think it's very likely he tries out the NFL.
There's very little left for Chip to prove on the college level, and his stock will never be higher. The door will always be open for him to come back, but I think Kelly will want to see if his system can work at the highest level.
Andy Wooldridge, Building The Dam: I think Chip will be back. He's got a perfect gig, and there's no reason to risk it. The NFL teams that will come calling mostly are messes where coaches go to have their career ruined, not a place where he would have the backing and lack of interference he enjoys in Eugene. And the people who keep bringing up NCAA sanctions are those mostly hoping the NCAA does what "their" team isn't good enough to do, and its wishful thinking.
Jack Follman, Pacific Takes: I think he was gone last year to Tampa Bay, but the wonderful Phil Knight stepped in and got things figured out. I think this is the last year though as he will have ultimate leverage power with contracts and finding the right team in the NFL as the hottest commodity on the market, especially if he wins it all this year. Also, he has no personal ties at all to Oregon or the area and there is still the good ol NCAA investigation cloud hovering over himself and Eugene. But then again, let's see what Knight has to say about it all.
