USC Football Recruiting: Zach Banner, Kyle Murphy Uphill Battles

When they were at their best, the USC Trojans owned the trenches. They had bruising offensive lineman that could make anyone from Joe McKnight to Chauncey Washington look like a capable NFL everydown running back. Those bruisers made all the difference up front.

USC wants to add some more muscle up front to close their limited class. But will they be able to land their big targets up front?

Both Zach Banner and Kyle Murphy seem like the wreckers that the Trojans would love to have leading the new age of USC. Among offensive tackle prospects, Murphy is considered to be a can't-miss talent, and Banner isn't too far behind. But Banner is leaning toward Washington and Murphy is probably a Stanford favorite. USC will have to make up precious ground in the upcoming weeks.

The Trojans already managed to land Max Tuerk and Jordan Simmons, so they've already scored a partial victory in offensive line recruiting. But they'll probably need one of these final two guys to come out to be satisfied with the class they end up along the line.
