North
1. Oregon 4-0 1-0 (#1 last week)
The Ducks showed that they could still devastate Pac-12 teams by eviscerating Cal, but lost a few top votes to Stanford due to the Cardinal's dominance thus far over better Pac-12 teams.
2. Stanford 4-0 2-0 (#2 last week)
The Cardinal turned some heads with just how badly they blew out a much-improved Washington State team in Seattle and gained some more first place votes than they had last week.
3. Washington 4-0 1-0 (#3 last week)
Washington has impressed, but been stuck here all season. They will get their chance to move up or down next week after they take on Stanford on the road Saturday.
4. Oregon State 4-1 2-0 (#5 last week)
The Beavers took advantage of Washington State getting hammered and slid up, further progressing their slow climb out of the cellar.
5. Washington State 3-2 1-1 (#4 last week)
Fans punished the Cougars for just how badly they lost to Stanford, they will now need to win at Cal Saturday to avoid quickly returning to their usual spot at the bottom of the North.
6. Cal 1-3 0-1 (#6 last week)
The Bears are firmly in the cellar, but a lot of that simply has to do with their schedule, as they have opened up with three of their first four against ranked opponents who are currently all undefeated.
South
1. UCLA 3-0 0-0 (#1 last week)
The Bruins have now already had both of their bye weeks and firmly held onto their top spot for another week despite Arizona State's blowout of USC.
2. Arizona State 3-1 1-1 (#2 last week)
A week after getting bounced by Stanford, the Sun Devils blowout went a long ways
3. Arizona 3-1 0-1 (#3 last week)
The Wildcats didn't look very good playing at Washington in a torrential downpour, but they didn't lose any ground due to Utah having a week off and USC's tanking against ASU.
4. Utah 3-1 0-1 (#5 last week)
The Utes have impressed more than most expected in their non-conference slate and finished only one point behind Arizona in our points system.
5. USC 3-2 0-2 (#4 last week)
The Trojan offense finally took flight, but unfortunately for them their defense fell apart spectacularly in the desert. They firmly planted themselves down by Colorado for the time being.
6. Colorado 2-1 0-1 (#6 last week)
The Buffs got some fifth-place votes due to USC disappointment, but they looked horrible against an average-looking Oregon State team so I don't see them getting out of this spot in the near future.
