Fitting that No. 3 Oregon (49-9), the top seed in the Pac-12, earned the first spot in next week's super regionals after sweeping Wisconsin 3-0 in the Eugene Regional Championship on Saturday. The Ducks, heading to their fourth straight super regionals, first beat BYU 5-2 in game one and shutout North Carolina 3-0 in game two.
How about the ending? Senior All-American Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year Jessica Moore earned the final strikeout on a 3-2, two-out count to clinch.
Moore was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eugene Regional after earning two wins and a save. Moore allowed just two runs in 17 innings, allowed 14 hits and two walks, and struck out 25 with a season-high 12 against BYU. She earned her school-record 100th career win against the Tar Heels.
GAME THREE HIGHLIGHTS vs. WISCONSIN (May 18): Samantha Pappas hit a solo homer in the second to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead...freshman Cheridan Hawkins earned her 18th win in the circle, striking out three and allowing just two hits and zero runs in four innings.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS vs. NORTH CAROLINA (May 17): Moore earned her 100th career victory.
"Coach White said that we have to go out and play every game like it's going to be our last," Moore said. "At any time in the postseason, it could turn really quickly. We need to go out and be aggressive against whomever we play, and be fired up and ready to win."
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS vs. BYU (May 16): Junior DP Alexa Peterson hit a three-run homer to put the Ducks ahead in the bottom of the first frame...BYU pitchers Tori Almond and Hannah Howell combined for 10 walks.
Next, No. 3 Oregon will play No. 14 Nebraska (43-13), winner of the Lincoln, Neb. Regional, starting May 23.
