Pac-12-focused Top 25 Week Eight: Oregon back into Top 10

Five Pac-12 teams make the Top 25.

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

1. Florida State 7-0

2. Mississippi 7-0

3. Mississippi State 6-0

4. Auburn 5-1

5. Notre Dame 6-1

6. Alabama 6-1

7. Oregon 6-1

The Ducks looked like a different team for the second-straight week with Jake Fisher in the line-up and dominated a solid opponent. I am not yet going to jump them over the other one-loss powers yet though since their loss is the most questionable and so much of their power appears to rely on keeping banged-up players healthy.

8. Georgia 6-1

9. Michigan State 6-1

10. Baylor 6-1

11. TCU 5-1

12. Kansas State 5-1

13. Ohio State 5-1

14. Arizona 5-1

I foolishly had Arizona still ahead of Oregon last week because they beat them and both teams had once loss. The Wildcats are a good team this season, but it is going to be very tough for them to not drop 2-3 more games in a very back-and-forth Pac-12 South this season. For now, their record and win at Oregon keeps them in the Top 15.

15. Oklahoma 5-2

16. West Virginia 5-2

17. Clemson 5-2

18. LSU 6-2

19. Arizona State 5-1

I admit that I was kind of writing the Sun Devils off as a team that got lucky against USC and hadn't really beaten anyone else, but I am a believer after their dominance of Stanford. They could easily win the South again.

20. Utah 5-1

I was reluctant to rank Utah, but I am now a believer after their second tough road win against a solid Pac-12 opponent. They are a sleeper pick to win the Pac-12 South.

21. USC 5-2

A team that is so close to being a contender with their two losses going down to the wire. I still don't trust their depth, but I don't think they are far off from being a really good team again.

22. Nebraska 6-1

23. Marshall 7-0

24. East Carolina 5-1

25. Missouri 5-2
