The Top 12 recruits to sign with Pac-12 schools

1. CB Adoree Jackson 5'10 170 Gardena, CA (Junipero Serra) - USC (Scout #6, Rivals #6, ESPN #9)

Arguably the best prospect out West this year, Jackson has top flight speed, but it is his quickness, balance and leaping ability that sets him apart. He has a lot of toughness for his size and Steve Sarkisian made a huge statement by keeping him home in his first class for USC.

2014 impact - Jackson could easily grab the starting spot opposite Josh Shaw and quickly become a standout while also becoming an instant star on special teams.

2. S Juju Smith 6'2 185 Long Beach, CA (Poly) - USC (Scout #10, Rivals #24, ESPN #24)

With great size, athleticism and range, Smith already has elite pass coverage skills coming out of high school and is the kind of guy who could lead the Pac-12 in interceptions in the near future. He's also strong in run defense and could team with Jackson down the road to form the nation's best defensive backfield.

2014 impact - Su'a Cravens is entrenched at strong safety, but Smith could step in right away for Dion Bailey and Demetrius Wright at free safety, but he will have serious competition if Leon McQuay III moves over to free safety and develops well enough.

3. DE Solomon Thomas 6'3 255 Coppell, TX - Stanford (Scout #20, Rivals #37, ESPN #25)

One of the nation's best big athletes, Thomas has exceptional size for a high school defensive end, but can still really move and get after the passer when he needs to. He is exactly the kind of, big, versatile and hard-nosed defender that have made Stanford's defense so fearsome in recent seasons.

2014 impact - The Cardinal have two very strong defensive ends returning in Henry Anderson and Blake Leuders, but Thomas can step right into the end rotation of Shaw's big monsters if he can transition to college play quickly.

4. T Casey Tucker 6'6 290 Chandler, AZ (Hamilton) - Stanford (Scout #22, Rivals #74, ESPN #39)

The West's best offensive lineman, Tucker is an ultra-athletic tackle prospect with great size and balance to go along with it. Like Thomas, he's a big, tough guy that fits in perfectly with their scheme who can dominate up front.

2014 impact - The Cardinal look set with starting tackles with the ultra-talented Andrus Peat and Kyle Murphy, but Shaw loves to use talented guys like Tucker in the rotation even when they are true freshman, so I expect him to be used in certain packages right away.

5. QB Keller Chryst 6'3 215 Palo Alto, CA - Stanford (Scout #95, Rivals #64, ESPN #46)

The best quarterback prospect out West after Kyle Allen who headed to Texas A&M, Chryst is a big prospect with a big arm and great football smarts given that his dad is the 49ers' quarterbacks coach. He has a strong arm and pocket presence to match his size and can also challenge defenders when he decides to run.

2014 impact - Kevin Hogan returns as a three-year starter, but he is really under the gun and can really limit Stanford's offense against strong defenses. If Chryst can transition quickly enough and Hogan really struggles, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a look.

6. RB Royce Freeman 6'1 220 Imperial, CA - Oregon (Scout #35, Rivals #52, ESPN #84)

Freeman is one of the top power backs at the country as he comes out of high school with NFL size and strength and looks a lot like former Oregon star Jonathan Stewart with his balance and ability to run over defenders but also run past them. His stock grew and grew as the recruiting process went on in as he dominated the camp and all-star game circuits.

2014 impact - The Ducks have two very good running back options returning in Byron Marshall and Thomas Tyner, but Freeman will likely find carries right away as a big back who can gain the tough yards and wear down defenses - something that could take the Ducks' running attack to another level.

7. S Budda Baker 5'10 175 Bellevue, WA - Washington (Scout #45, Rivals #61, ESPN #122)

Baker is a very similar player to Jackson with maybe a little less athleticism, but a little more physicality who is a danger anytime he is near the ball. He could play a number of positions, but looks pegged right now to be a safety and special teams star at the next level.

2014 impact - The starting safety position is wide open for Baker at Washington as they graduated both starters from last season in Sean Parker and Will Shamburger and don't have any other players at the position who are upperclassmen. I expect him to start from day one.

8. G Damien Mama 6'4 370 Bellflower, CA (St. John Bosco) - USC (Scout #39, Rivals #39, ESPN #67)

One of the biggest elite prospects I have ever seen, Mama is 370 pounds (maybe even more), but that doesn't mean that he can't really, really move and that's exactly why he's such a big time prospect. He also has the kind of strength and aggressiveness that you love to see in a guy with his size. He might have to shed some weight when he gets on campus, but players with his combination of size and athleticism rarely come along, so it's not a huge concern.

2014 impact - The Trojans have talent and depth at guard, so I think they would probably like to redshirt Mama if they can, as school generally prefer to redshirt offensive linemen more than any other position than quarterback. However, it will be interesting to see how they play it out since he has stated that he plans on being in college only one year before going on a two-year LDS mission.

9. LB Zach Whitley 6'2 220 Galena Park, TX (North Shore) - UCLA (Scout #54, Rivals #88, ESPN #192)

A prototypical linebacker that already has the size and strength to play at an elite level in college, Whitley can move all over the field and make big hits. He was one of the top prospects in all of Texas this year and had major Big 12 and SEC programs after him, so it was a huge coup for the Bruins to pull him out of the Lone Star state.

2014 impact - The Bruins have Myles Jack and Eric Kendricks returning at linebacker but lose Anthony Barr and Jordan Zumwalt so there are a couple of openings to start, but Whitley will have to compete with some other really talented underclassmen for the spot and I don't know if he will be ready to slide right in as a starter. Expect him to at least make an impact in depth though.

10. WR Jalen Brown 6'2 185 Phoenix, AZ (Mountain Pointe) - Oregon (Scout #49, Rivals #89, ESPN #278)

Brown isn't a guy that jumps out at you with physicality or pure speed, but he is simply a deadly pure receiver that is as college ready as any receiver in the nation. He is exceptionally polished, run great routes and is always seemingly open and already enrolled at Oregon.

2014 impact - The Ducks have Bralon Addison to fill the void left by Josh Huff but they desperately need a second receiver that can step up and with how ready to play Brown is, I think he will be the best candidate to do that.

11. CB Arrion Springs 6'0 190 San Antonio, TX (Roosevelt) - Oregon (Scout #62, Rivals NR, ESPN #47)

A versatile defensive back prospect that could play cornerback or safety, Springs has fantastic size and brings a tough physicality to the position while also being fluid in pass coverage. He's quick and athletic in space and fits the mold of recent standout Oregon DBs who could play either position in the defensive backfield and play the run and pass well.

2014 impact - The Ducks look set at starters, but are desperately thin in depth, so I would expect Springs to be in the rotation at either cornerback or safety in 2014.

12. G Viane Talamaivao 6'3 285 Corona, CA (Centennial) - USC (Scout #90, Rivals #90, ESPN #96)

The fact that Alabama came all the way out West to get a commitment from Talamaivao early in the process is a testament to just how good of a prospect he is. He's not huge like Mama, but is nasty and led Centennial to a state championship during an incredibly impressive senior season.

2014 impact -Talamaivao, but will almost assuredly redshirt with Mama also in the fold at guard.
