Jack Follman's Pac-12-Focused Top 25 9/2: Bruins drop a couple of spots

UCLA and USC head in opposite directions after the opening weekend of play.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

1. Florida State 1-0

2. Auburn 1-0

3. Alabama 1-0

4. Oregon 1-0

Tempted to move the Ducks up after seeing how much Alabama struggled with West Virginia and after seeing their new quarterback. I will give it another week before making that move though to see how the Ducks fair against Michigan State.

5. Michigan State 1-0

6. Oklahoma 1-0

7. Baylor 1-0

8. Georgia 1-0

9. LSU 1-0

10. UCLA 1-0

Dropped the Bruins down a couple of spots after their unimpressive (at least offensively) performance at Virginia. I wouldn't panic yet, but it did appear against the Cavaliers that the Bruins don't have the offensive line and skill position players around Brett Hundley to turn into a legit national title contender yet.

11. Stanford 1-0

Nice to see Stanford score some points, even if it is against an FCS opponent and to see Ty Montgomery healthy. Still in a wait-and-see mode with these though with all of their new starters but we will find out a lot about them Saturday against USC.

12. Ohio State 1-0

13. USC 1-0

Can't help but be impressed with the Trojans after what they did Saturday. Not only did they bash Fresno State, but they looked fast, energetic and poised at quarterback while doing it.

14. Texas A&M 1-0

15. Mississippi 1-0

16. Nebraska 1-0

17. Texas 1-0

18. Notre Dame 1-0

19. Oklahoma State 0-1

20. Wisconsin 0-1

21. Florida 0-0

22. Missouri 1-0

23. Kansas State 1-0

24. TCU 1-0

25. Louisville 1-0

Dropped out

Washington 1-0 - The Huskies beat woeful Hawaii by only one point and they were very lucky to even get that one-point win. The Huskies will need to win by some impressive margins the rest of their non-conference slate if they hope to get back into the Top 25.

Not in yet

Arizona State 1-0 - Most national polls have the Sun Devils ranked, but I think they are focusing too much on their success last season and the stars they have at skill positions. I think they have the potential to be a Top 15 team again, but I have them right on the Top 25 edge right now and am waiting and seeing to view how their completely revamped defense does against a solid offense.
