2015 four-star center Jayce Johnson commits to Utah over Cal

Johnson had been a 2016 recruit up until this past weekend, when he announced he was recommitting.

The Utah Runnin' Utes, already flush with size and talent in the post going forward, added another big-time recruit Monday night when 2015 center Jayce Johnson committed to the program.

Johnson, from Santa Monica, CA, plans on enrolling at Utah in the spring semester and redshirting this year, as Cal Golden Blogs laid out over the weekend.

The obvious benefit from Johnson's plan of coming in this year and redshirting is he gets extra time around the team and coaches, and will be that much further developed than a traditional incoming recruit.

Johnson certainly had his fair share of suitors. Seven of the 12 Pac-12 schools offered him, while the five that did not (Arizona, Stanford, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon State) all had interest in him.

Johnson's mixtape from the Elite 100 camp can be found below.
