Pac-12 division championship chase 11/12: Ducks still alive in the North

Five teams still alive in the hunt for the 2015 Pac-12 Championship.

North

Control their own destiny

Stanford 8-1 (7-0)

Remaining schedule: Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame

All Stanford has to do is win one of their two remaining Pac-12 games or have Oregon lose one of their last three to wrap up the North outright. With that being the case and Oregon travelling to Palo Alto Saturday, the Cardinal can put it all to rest this weekend.

Need help

Oregon 6-3 (4-2)

Remaining schedule: at Stanford, USC, Oregon State

There is only a thread of hope for Oregon getting back to the Pac-12 Championship Game and keeping it alive for at least another week is in their hands as they play Stanford this week. If the Ducks can pull off the upset, they then have to hope Cal upsets the Cardinal and they win out.

South

Control their own destiny

Utah 8-1 (5-1)

Remaining schedule: at Arizona, UCLA, Colorado

The Utes have a one-game lead over the LA schools so they are all good as long as they win out. That lead also leaves them some very realistic scenarios where they could lose another game (maybe even two) and still win the South, especially if they can beat UCLA.

UCLA 7-2 (4-2)

Remaining schedule: Washington State, at Utah, at USC

The Bruins are a game back Utah but still control their own destiny since the Utes are still on the schedule. Like Utah, they still could win the division with another loss in some scenarios, but it's not as likely. Working against them, they have the toughest remaining schedule of the three teams alive in the South in my opinion as they host a surging Washington State team and then finish with back-to-back road games against the other South contenders.

USC 6-3 (4-2)

Remaining schedule: at Colorado, at Oregon, UCLA

The Trojans need Utah to drop at least a game to have any shot at winning the South, but the good news for them is they are the only team in this group with a win over another team in the group, giving them a leg up in potential tie breakers. Their schedule isn't easy from here with a road trip to Eugene looking really tough right now, but like UCLA and Utah, they do have some scenarios where they could win the South with another loss, especially since they have the tie breaker over Utah.
