Ohio State football recruiting: Buckeyes offer Brandon Burton, USC Trojans likely in lead

Where does Burton stand?

Gardena (Ca.) Junipero Serra safety Brandon Burton recently received an offer from the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. Will it be enough to sway him away from his top schools?

Right now, Burton probably has a bunch of programs, with Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA, and Arizona State all at the top of the mix.

USC appears to be the current program in the lead, via Rivals. The Trojans are beginning to rebuild back their defensive back depth, but they still have maybe a class or two to go before they've rebuilt their overall class balance. USC landed one safety last year in Marvell Tell (along with a bunch of cornerbacks), but they will probably go for two or more this season. Ohio State is in a similar spot--they didn't offer any safeties last year, and could try to make Burton their top prospect to try and poach him away from the hometown school.
