How you recently found yourself wondering what former Arizona State Sun Devil Ike Diogu is up to? How about USC great and NBA legend Brian Scalabrine?
Well, you've come to the right place! Diogu and Scal are just two of the many Pac-12 alums that will be participating in this year's installment of The Basketball Tournament.
Not familiar with The Basketball Tournament? The Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination, free-to-enter, 97-team basketball tournament founded in 2014. Notre Dame took home the $500,000 prize last year in the inaugural tournament. This year, the stakes are much higher. The prize is now $1 million and some of the games will be shown on ESPNU with the conclusion being shown on ESPN.
Teams are split up into four regions, similar to the NCAA Tournament. To ascertain that their favorite team gets a spot in the bracket, fans must vote for the team.
This team, for example, is primarily University of Colorado alums.
This team, with Diogu and Dijon Thompson will be coached by Nick Young. They are currently ineligible.
There are also teams comprised mostly of former Washington Huskies and Utah Utes.
Fans have until June 1 to vote for their team and assure they will get a spot in the field. For more information visit the TBT website right here.
