2016 five-star guard Kobi Simmons commits to Arizona

The Wildcats nab a five-star guard for their first commit in the class of 2016.

Kobi Simmons, a top 5 guard in the country and 18th on ESPN's top 100, has committed to Arizona. Simmons made the announcement Saturday night following his team's game at the HoopHall Classic.

Simmons, from Alpharetta, Georgia, showed just how good he was in that game, scoring 34 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out nine assists.

The Wildcats made a late charge in Simmons' recruitment, coming on strong in the last week, as AZ Desert Swarm chronicled on Friday afternoon.

Arizona's scholarship situation is interesting. With Simmons' commitment, they still have three scholarships available for next season, and are in the mix for Josh Jackson and Rawle Alkins. Two players who, like Simmons, are in the top 20 of ESPN's top 100 for next season.

Simmons' summer mixtape can be found below. He is a gifted scorer and playmaker, and the type of player Arizona fans have come to expect Sean Miller to land.
