USC will be adding a former five-star recruit for that 2017-18 season via the transfer market, as ex-Duke guard Derryck Thornton committed to the school on Friday, per Josh Gershon of Scout.

Thornton appeared in all 36 games for the Blue Devils last season, averaging 7.1 points per game, but their loaded incoming recruiting class made for a crowded roster.

Thornton, who is from nearby Chatsworth, California, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after sitting out this season.
