Game
#3 Oklahoma at #15 Houston Oklahoma- Too much Baker Mayfield. He makes the difference in a high scoring game. Houston- The last time OU began the season ranked #3 against a team with a cougar mascot was2009. They lost to BYU 14-13. Houston- Everyone over hypes OU and this is going to be another disappointing OU season. Plus I'm an Oklahoma State homer. Oklahoma- Houston executes really well, but a turnover in the 3rd quarter proves costly, and OU pulls away from there. Oklahoma- Great QB's and a fantastic matchup. Sooners have just enough to beat a talented Houston team. Oklahoma- This is an interesting matchup, but Oklahoma has too many horses across the board. Oklahoma- Baker Mayfield is like, really, really good. Nough Said. Houston- This will be an offensive shootout and Houston's home field advantage and momentum from last year give them a W. Oklahoma- Too much talent and depth surrounding Baker Mayfield for Greg Ward Jr. and Houston. Oklahoma- This is going to come down to the wire, but Mayfield is the real deal. He will get It done in Houston late in the game.
#16 UCLA at Texas A&M Texas A&M- Rosen plays great, but makes a mistake late which costs UCLA the game in a raucous atmosphere in College Station. UCLA-I don't buy in to Trevor Knight. Simple as that. Myles Garrett can only do so much for the Aggie Defense. UCLA- Offense. Fire. Power. Rosen torches the A&M Defense in a high scoring game. UCLA- The Bruins win by a FG. A&M Drives late, but Trevor Knight throws a game clinching pick to Fabian Moreau. Texas A&M-I fully expect this game to come down to the final possession. With home field advantage, A&M gets it done. Texas A&M- Bruins are loaded and this is a huge game for Rosen, but how many elite teams has UCLA beat recently? This will be close, but I give A&M the edge. UCLA- The Bruins have struggled in big games before, but I think Rosen is ready for the challenge in College Station. They'll follow him to a big victory on the road. Texas A&M- College Station is a tough place to play and Rosen still has some jitters in his game. UCLA- Rosen shows what all the hype is about while a healthy Eddie Vanderdoes steals the spotlight in a game dominated by defensive lines. UCLA- A&M isn't the team it was with Manziel, and Sumlin could be on his way out if this turns into an underwhelming season. Rosen will solidify himself as the top QB in the PAC-12.
#5 LSU vs. Wisconsin (Lambeau) LSU- Leonard Fournette. Enough Said. LSU- Even if Wisconsin could do the Lambeau Leap, they wouldn't be able to get into the endzone anyway. LSU- Les Miles will have the team ready after the tragic offseason with the flooding in LA. LSU wins by at least three scores. LSU- Jack Cichy gets at least 11 sacks. Ok, he gets one sack, then gets ran over by Fournette on the next play. Wisconsin-The atmosphere at Lambeau will be incredible as the Badgers pull the upset. LSU- Take a look at LSU's rosters and the NFL draft boards, this team is stacked. LSU- This one's obvious. Fournette is just miles better than pretty much everyone else. LSU- Fournette is the poster child for why players should be allowed to declare for the NFL before Jr. Year. LSU- Too much speed, too much Fournette. LSU- Leonard Fournette ladies and gentlemen, that is all.
#18 Georgia vs #22 North Carolina (Atlanta) Georgia- This game will be close, but expect Georgia's defense to make one more stop. Georgia- If Nick Chubb stays healthy the entire game, a big if, the Bulldogs will run all over the Tar Heels. Georgia- The SEC is the best conference in the nation, and Nick Chubb is going to run wild. Georgia- Bulldogs win by 6 thanks to Jacob Eason throwing a TD on a fake field goal attempt. It fuels the controversy as to why he isn't starting. North Carolina- UNC runs Georgia out of the building. Seriously. UGA's Nick Chubb struggles in his return from injury. Georgia- The Dogs have some question marks, but so does UNC, and they're playing close to home. I'll give them a slight edge. North Carolina- The Tar Heels will get it done. They're one of the more underated teams in the country. Georgia- Nick Chubb is the next Gurley. Georgia- Ina battle of new QB's, Nick Chubbs' triumphant return rules the day. North Carolina- This should be a great game all the way down to the end. UNC will beat Kirby Smart who will experience a few hiccups in his first game.
#20 USC vs. #1 Alabama (Arlington) Alabama- Defending national champs. Nick Saban. He always shines on the big stage. Alabama- I've never said "Roll Tide" in anything but a mocking tone. Today is a new day. Roll Tide. Alabama- USC doesn't stand a chance. Nick Saban dominates in season openers. Alabama- Low scoring affair. Max Browne throws his first TD on a fade to Darreus Rogers and Zach Banner gets a good pancake in. Cooper Bateman starts for Bama. Alabama- Low Scoring affair. Bama is good at those. This won't be as close as people expect. Alabama- The Trojans aren't ready for a game like this. Bama will pound them and force Max Browne into mistakes. Bama by 10-14 points. Alabama- I'm not drinking the USC Kool-Aid this year. They'll be decent, but nowhere near good enough to beat Saban on Primetime Alabama- Nick Saban is the juggernaut of college football and his team will be ready. Helton can't match wits. Alabama- Don't bother playing in this game unless you're a 5 star recruit. Alabama wears USC down, and wins by 2 scores. Alabama- Nick Saban is almost always unbeatable for QB's making their first start. Browne will get a wake up call in his first start. Bama will cover the spread.
#10 Notre Dame at Texas Texas- UND has had off field issues. Charlie Strong's squad will be ready. Notre Dame- Unfortunately for Texas the entire UND roster wasn't arrested last week. Texas- Charlie Strong is bringing Texas back to the promised land. Brian Kelly is slowly losing control of his Notre Dame team. Notre Dame- Texas wins the competition of "QB's with the best names" by starting either Tyrone Swoopes or Shane Buchele, but they lose the game. Notre Dame- The Irish avoid the upset with a double digit win over Texas. The Longhorms muster only one TD. Notre Dame- The Irish have stepped up in games like this, and Texas has shown nothing in the last couple of years. This won't be pretty, but UND will win. Notre Dame- Yes, they've had some off field issues, but they're still simply better than Texas. They'll get it done. Notre Dame- Texas continues to underperform under Charlie Strong and Notre Dame will take full advantage Week 1. Notre Dame- Texas should have a bounce back season, but won't be able to contain the Irish offense. Notre Dame- Texas is getting a lot of attention, but they've given us no reason to believe they will improve. Notre Dame is extremely talented and will run away with this one.
#11 Ole Miss vs #4 Florida State (Orlando) FSU- Chad Kelly is good, but Dalvin Cook makes the difference. FSU- I'm taking a great running back over a very good QB in this year's "Insensitive Mascot Bowl." Ole Miss-New QB for FSU, and Chad Kelly is a darkhorse Heisman candidate this year. Ole Miss by 2 scores. Ole Miss-Ole Miss gets the upset but still misses the void left over when Bo Wallace's hair graduated. FSU- Fischer's high octane offense will be too much for Ole Miss to handle. FSU wins by a few scores. FSU- Ole Miss has played pretty well in big games in recent seasons, but they don't have the depth of FSU to win in Florida Ole Miss-I think Ole Miss could do some major things this year, and it starts with a W against FSU. FSU- The talent on the team is too much even for Ole Miss. The game being in Florida makes the difference. FSU- Dalvin Cook announces his Heisman candidacy in a big way against a big time SEC opponent. FSU- Dalvin Cook returns along with his entire O-line. They will give Ole Miss fits and show us why they're a favorite for the CFB Playoff.
