Pacific Takes Top 25 10/16: Washington and Washington State tumble down rankings

But the Trojans creep into the Top 10

NCAA Football: Washington State at California Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports
  1. Alabama 7-0

2. Georgia 7-0

3. TCU 6-0

4. Penn State 6-0

5. Wisconsin 6-0

6. Oklahoma 5-1

7. Clemson 6-1

8. Ohio State 6-1

9. Miami 5-0

10. USC 6-1 - The Trojans are sitting in a decent spot after hanging on against Utah. They can make a nice splash Saturday if they win at Notre Dame and keep themselves right in the thick of the Playoff chase.

11. Oklahoma State 5-1

12. Notre Dame 5-1

13. Michigan State 5-1

14. Michigan 5-1

15. Washington 6-1 - The Husky offense and special teams was a disaster against Arizona State. Their defense is still beyond elite, but it can only carry them so far. They have zero margin for error if they want to be a Playoff candidate.

16. South Florida 6-0

17. Virginia Tech 5-1

18. NCState 6-1

19. UCF 5-0

20. Washington State 6-1 - I don’t know what to do with the Cougars. They have a great win over USC, but there is no way a ranked team should get destroyed by a team like Cal the way they got destroyed.

21. San Diego State 6-1

22. Stanford 5-2 - The Cardinal are lurking ready to strike in the North and overall in the Pac-12 really. Their offensive line is coming along and they look good heading into upcoming showdowns with the Washington schools.

23. Auburn 5-2

24. Utah 4-2 - Tough back-to-back losses for the Utes. It realistic to think that they could be in the Top Five right now if they had Tyler Huntley.

25. West Virginia 4-2
