2017 Cal Basketball recruiting: Taking a look at Justice Sueing

The Golden Bears nabbed a commit earlier this month. Let’s learn more about him.

The California Golden Bears men’s basketball team opened February with a bang on the recruiting trail, as 2017 forward Justice Sueing announced his commitment.

Aside from one of the best names in the entire conference, what does the Mater Dei (CA) High School big man bring to Cal? Let’s take a look!

While the video shows Sueing shooting a couple threes, it’s evident he’s most comfortable finishing around the rim on offense. He’s a solid presence down low defensively, as well, despite being just 6’7.

Our friends at California Golden Blogs did a breakdown of Sueing back in January, which you can find right here.

With Ivan Rabb’s expected departure and Roger Moute a Bidas’ graduation, Sueing could see some playing time early on next season. Of course, Cal’s roster next season is very guard-heavy, so if Cuonzo Martin decides to go small most of the time, Sueing may struggle to find playing time early on.

As it stands right now, Cal still has two scholarships available next year, with that number jumping to three should Rabb choose to head to the NBA, so the Golden Bears aren’t done recruiting quite yet.

Not that you’re ever actually done recruiting.
