2017 Stanford Basketball Recruiting: Taking a look at Isaac White

The Cardinal took a trip to A Land Down Under for their latest commit

While this season likely won’t end in an NCAA Tournament appearance for the Stanford Cardinal, the month of February hasn’t been all bad for Jerod Haase’s bunch.

On February 2, three-star Australian point guard Isaac White committed to the school over Boise State and Hawaii.

White has been a bit under-the-radar, but has certainly come on strong of late. Let’s go to his highlight reel and learn some more about him.

White’s style is certainly... unorthodox. Off the bat, you can see how he flies all over the court and cuts into the lane beautifully. He seems to play with a fearless intensity. It’s worth noting this is from the U20 Australian National Championships, so White is up against some of the best players in his country here and he’s still making it look easy.

However, White’s frame might prove troublesome in the Pac-12. He’s listed at 6’1 and 185 pounds. The conference is getting larger and more physical, so White’s ability to get into the lane against some of the Pac-12’s Goliaths may be severely hampered.

In all, White could very well be a very good player for the Cardinal. More and more teams have been looking to Australia for recruits in the past decade, and more often than not, they have panned out. White playing for the national team against higher competition is certainly beneficial.

The Cardinal now have no scholarships remaining for 2017-18, so unless something changes, they’re done recruiting.
