Final Pacific Takes Top 25: four Pac-12 teams end the year ranked

A disappointing year for the Pac-12 comes to a close.

NCAA Football: Holiday Bowl-Washington State vs Michigan State Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports
  1. Alabama 13-1
  2. Georgia 13-2
  3. Oklahoma 12-2
  4. Ohio State 12-2
  5. Penn State 11-2
  6. Wisconsin 13-1
  7. Clemson 12-2
  8. UCF 13-0
  9. USC 11-3 - Here were are Pac-12. USC wasn’t competitive against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl and the top Pac-12 team doesn’t check in until nearly double digits. The Trojans will have to regroup without Sam Darnold next year.
  10. TCU 11-3
  11. Auburn 10-4
  12. Stanford 9-5 - Stanford lost five games, but two of those were to USC and they beat Notre Dame convincingly late in the season. It was another good, but not great, year for the Cardinal.
  13. Miami 10-3
  14. Notre Dame 10-3
  15. Washington 10-3 - A second-straight 10-win season was a major milestone for the Huskies. They didn’t exceed a single expectation all year, but they delivered enough to help solidify themselves as a Pac-12 power for now.
  16. Northwestern 10-3
  17. Michigan State 10-3
  18. Oklahoma State 10-3
  19. Mississippi State 9-4
  20. LSU 9-4
  21. South Florida 10-2
  22. South Carolina 9-4
  23. NCState 9-4
  24. Virginia Tech 9-4
  25. Washington State 9-4 - Another horrendous close for the Cougs, but they stay in the Top 25 by the thinnest of margins.
