Pac-12 NCAA Tournament bubble watch: are Arizona State, UCLA, USC and Washington in?

Another look at the NCAA Tournament for Pac-12 teams as the end of the season nears.

NCAA Basketball: Arizona at Oregon State Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

In

Arizona 22-6 (12-3)

Seed: 4-5

Quality wins: Texas A&M, Alabama, Arizona State, at Utah, Utah, USC, at Arizona State

Toughest remaining game: 2/24 at Oregon

The Wildcats are the only team safely in. Their only question is where they will be seeded. They can move a lot higher than they are now with a strong finishing statement.

On The Bubble

Arizona State 19-8 (7-8)

Seed: 10-11

Quality wins: Kansas State, Xavier, at Kansas, at Utah, USC, UCLA

Toughest remaining game: 2/24 at Oregon State

Those killer non-conference wins are golden for Arizona State and make up for an average conference run. They need to close solid though to guarantee a spot in the tournament.

USC 20-9 (11-5)

Seed: 11-play-in

Quality wins: Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, Utah

Bad losses: Princeton

Toughest remaining game: 2/24 at Utah

The Trojans scored some decent non-conference wins and have been very good in-conference, winning just about every game they should, but rarely winning games where they aren’t a solid favorite. They are right on the razor’s edge and need to maintain a good conference record and tournament showing to get in.

Washington 18-10 (8-7)

Seed: NIT-play-in

Quality wins: at Kansas, Montana, at USC, Arizona State, Arizona

Toughest remaining game: 3/3 Oregon

The Huskies are fading hard. They have struggled since their huge week against the Arizona schools. They can win out in conference play though and put themselves in a nice spot.

UCLA 19-9 (10-6)

Seed: NIT-play-in

Quality wins: Kentucky, Washington, Utah, USC, at Arizona

Toughest remaining game: 3/3 at USC

The Bruins have nice big wins, but an average overall record. They are right on the edge. Close the way they should, and I think they get in.

Utah 18-9 (10-6)

Seed: NIT

Quality wins: Missouri, Washington, at Arizona State, at Washington, UCLA

Toughest remaining game: 2/24 USC

The Utes are surging. They can put themselves in the tournament discussion if they win their last two games and then do well in the Pac-12 Tournament.

Oregon 18-10 (8-7)

Seed: NIT

Quality wins: at Arizona State, UCLA, Washington, Arizona State

Bad losses: UConn

Toughest remaining game: 2/24 Arizona

The Ducks are also putting it together late. They have nice conference wins and a nice record. They will have to be very impressive down the stretch to get in though.

Hanging by a thread

Stanford 15-13 (9-6)

Seed: NIT-C tournament

Quality wins: Montana, UCLA, USC, at Washington, Arizona State, Washington

Bad losses: Cal, Eastern Washington, Portland State, at Long Beach State

Toughest remaining game: 3/1 at Arizona

Something tells me that if Arizona can win out and get 12 conference wins and do well in the Pac-12 Tournament, they have a shot at the NCAA Tournament.
