Pacific Takes Top 25 12/9: Oregon moves into the Top 10

Oregon rises while Utah plummets out of the Top 10.

NCAA Football: Pac-12 Conference Championship-Oregon vs Utah Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
  1. LSU 13-0
  2. Ohio State 13-0
  3. Clemson 13-0
  4. Oklahoma 12-1
  5. Georgia 11-2
  6. Florida 10-2
  7. Auburn 9-3
  8. Alabama 10-2
  9. Oregon 11-2 - The Ducks scored their big win over Utah in the Pac-12 Championship Game and their win over USC has gotten better with how the Trojans have closed. My only problem is ranking the Ducks over SEC teams with equal loss counts given the outcome of the Auburn game in Bo Nix’ first college football game. We can all hate on the SEC, but I still think the top of the Pac-12 is well behind the top of the SEC, and fairly.
  10. Wisconsin 10-3
  11. Baylor 11-2
  12. Penn State 10-2
  13. Minnesota 10-2
  14. Notre Dame 10-2
  15. Utah 11-2 - I hate dinging teams for their performances in conference championships, but the Utes look questionable now that the dust has settled given their performances against Oregon and USC. They lack the quality wins that the teams ahead of them with similar loss amounts have.
  16. Memphis 12-1
  17. Michigan 9-3
  18. Iowa 9-3
  19. Boise State 12-1
  20. Virginia 9-4
  21. Appalachian State 12-1
  22. USC 8-4 - Things closed well for USC. Their loss to Oregon doesn’t look as bed and shows that they probably were the best team in the South, given their win over Utah, but they just had to play Oregon in the regular season. It would be interesting to see how they would have played at Washington had Kedon Slovis been healthy.
  23. Cincinnati 10-3
  24. Kansas State 8-4
  25. Oklahoma State 8-4
