Pac-12 2019 NCAA Tournament watch 2/5/19: Washington Huskies only team safely in

Checking in on Pac-12 NCAA Tournament stock.

NCAA Basketball: UCLA at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

In

Washington 18-4 (9-0)

Seed: 6-7

Good wins: None Bad Losses: None

The Huskies (barring disaster) are the only team in the Pac-12 that is securely in the tournament this year and even they might need to win the Pac-12 Tournament to 100 percent guarantee they’re in. They nation hates the Pac-12 this year so they might not get a great seed even if they win out, but watch out for where the committee seeds Gonzaga and Nevada. They love to pair Pac-12 teams against other West Coast teams as soon as possible to ensure one gets knocked out as early as possible.

Toughest remaining game: at Arizona 2/7

On the Bubble

Arizona State 15-6 (6-3)

Seed: 10-play in

Good wins: Mississippi State, Utah State, Kansas Bad losses: at Vanderbilt

The Sun Devils have a trio of non-conference wins that should get them in as long as they are solid in Pac-12 play. They don’t have much margin for error though and would get a huge boost if they can beat Washington on Saturday.

Toughest remaining game: Washington 2/9

Arizona 14-8 (5-4)

Seed: NIT-play in

Good wins: Iowa State Bad losses: None

The Wildcats are tough and talented, but they won’t be good enough for the tournament this year if they don’t do better in a down Pac-12. Like Arizona State, they can make a huge splash with a win over Washington this week.

Toughest remaining game: Washington 2/7

Oregon State 14-7 (6-3)

Seed: NIT

Good wins: Old Dominion Bad losses: Texas A&M

The Beavers have done well-enough in-conference to get themselves in NCAA Tournament contention. They probably have to do even better though to get in without winning the Pac-12 Tournament.

Toughest remaining game: at Washington 3/6

USC 13-9 (6-3)

Seed: NIT

Good wins: None Bad losses: Vanderbilt, at Santa Clara

The Trojans are another team doing well in-conference that need to do even-better to make it in. They have the talent to do just that and to win the Pac-12 Tournament too though.

Toughest remaining game: at UCLA 2/28

UCLA 12-10 (5-4)

Seed: NIT

Good wins: None Bad losses: None

The Bruins have a lot of losses, but that’s because they played a nightmare non-conference slate. They might be able to sneak up if they close hard in-conference and do well in the Pac-12 Tournament.

Toughest remaining game: at Utah 3/9

Oregon 13-9 (4-5)

Seed: NIT

Good wins: Syracuse Bad losses: Texas Southern

The Ducks are probably dead after getting blown out by Colorado, but they have a big win over Syracuse and talent. They are a team that I could easily see putting it together and winning the Pac-12 Tournament.

Toughest remaining game: at Washington 3/9
