Arizona State nabs a 5-Star basketball recruit

Joshua Christopher chooses ASU over Michigan

NCAA Basketball: Arizona State at Stanford Cody Glenn-USA TODAY Sports

Arizona State men’s basketball got a huge shot in the arm on Monday night. Five-star recruit, Joshua Christopher, chose to bring his considerable talent to the Sun Devils. Christopher is a five-star shooting guard and is the number 10 overall ranked player in the 2020 class by 247sports Composite.

What does this mean for the Sun Devil program?

It means that the momentum that Bobby Hurley has created the past couple of years by getting to the NCAA Tournament, getting his program to be a contender in the Pac-12, and getting other talented recruits to join his program is headed in the right direction.

Joshua Christopher shocked many by announcing his intentions to come to Arizona State over the likes of Michigan, Missouri, and UCLA. Getting the 6-foot-5 wing player is a huge deal for the program especially since Remy Martin and Romello White who were two of their best players this past season are trying to figure out whether or not to stay in the NBA Draft.

Christopher was widely expected to join the Michigan Wolverines because head coach Juwan Howard had already put together a recruiting class ranked number four nationally. It is Coach Howards first full recruiting class at Michigan.

“The recruiting process has been one of the most exciting, interesting, and stressful times of my life. I have to thank all of the coaches who have recruited me and put time in to see me, reach out to me, or have me on their campus.” Joshua Christopher said in his video announcement.

Coach Hurley now has two big time recruits locked in for his Sun Devil team in 2020-2021.

With four-star forward, Marcus Bagley, already in the fold for the Sun Devils the future is looking extremely bright for Coach Hurley and his Sun Devil program.

Joshua Christopher has a chance to be a star on the college level. Christopher is at his best when he is attacking the basket and taking opposing players off the dribble. He has been described as a pure scorer who will use his strength and athleticism to get to his favorite spots on the floor. His shot is reliable, but Sun Devil fans will revel in his ability to get to the rim.

At the end of the day, Coach Hurley wants momentum for his Sun Devil program and getting a player such Joshua Christopher does just that. Forks Up in Tempe.
