The Pac-12 football season is cancelled this fall. I didn’t need to say it, we all know. Yet, I still can’t start an article without re-stating it because I think it still needs to set in. While we’ll still have football in the south, most likely, the Pac-12 football coaches are hard at work on the recruiting trail already.
While the south playing games this fall may have a negative impact on teams that have decided not to play the fall 2020 season, others may view it, if done properly, as an advantage for the Pac-12, Big Ten and other Group of 5 conferences that aren’t playing. If they can get out and in front of these players for classes of 2021 and of 2022, and get a jump on their recruiting, they could land more recruits with more time on their hands this fall.
Some coaches have really picked up steam with the new-found virtual recruiting and the Oregon Ducks and USC Trojans are fielding nationally-ranked, top-five classes so far for 2021. They’re both also already looking towards the 2022 class and are hot on the trail of rising high school juniors already.
Let’s take a look around the Pac-12 and see who is hot on the recruiting trail already now that the season has been cancelled.
