Ever screamed at your TV wondering why your coach isn't taking better care of the clock in the final minutes of a football game? That your team ends up leaving too much time on the clock or runs out of chances to use the time they have left?
Well, Arizona State may have less of that problem this season. It's unclear who that person will be as of yet, but Todd Graham, offensive coordinator Mike Norvell and defensive coordinator Keith Patterson will have someone in the box coordinating with them on critical time management decisions in the final two minutes. Doug Haller of AZCentral has more.
Example: In the game's final two minutes, ASU will have a person in the press box that is simply in charge of time management. That person will work with Graham, offensive coordinator Mike Norvell and defensive coordinator Keith Patterson down on the field.
Graham has tasked new ASU special teams coach Shawn Slocum with overseeing the project and finding the right guy for the job. We shall see whether Arizona State is functioning optimally on the sidelines when the Sun Devils find themselves in a tight patch--ASU was 3-2 in games decided by a touchdown or less and essentially went down to the final play of the game.
