The Arizona State Sun Devils have the biggest test of any Pac-12 team in Week 1 when they head to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Both ASU and A&M are becoming popular dark horse college football playoff picks, and it's quite possible their playoff bubbles will take a hard punch if they get beaten convincingly by the other on Saturday night in Houston.
ASU is upgrading from a talented young team to one with enough experience to compete for a Pac-12 crown. The Sun Devils came a few plays from getting to the conference championship game last year. This year they should be more talented, more experienced, and Mike Bercovici should slide right in and be productive.
Still, Texas A&M is a formidable opponent, and Houston will probably lean heavily toward mostly Aggie representation. It will be a hostile environment for the Sun Devils to win this, and they generally tend to struggle against teams with elite recruiting talent. The Aggies are going to be extremely talented, perhaps the most talented team on the schedule for the Sun Devils. Can ASU overpower that Texas talent to notch a huge resume-boosting win?
