Oregon Football: Did Chip Kelly Make The Right Decision, Part II?

Did Chip Kelly make a better decision to make the leap to the NFL after seeming to originally stay at Oregon?

Rich Schultz

Since we published our thoughts about whether or not Kelly made the right decision by returning to Oregon prematurely, let's do the opposite. Do you think Chip Kelly made the right decision to jump to the NFL?

Jack Follman, Pacific Takes
- Yes, for himself and what appears to be his personal goals now, it was definitely the right move. The Eagles are one of the better organizations in the NFL and have good talent and he has accomplished just about everything he can at Oregon. I think Kelly wants to prove that he can change the game of football and the only way you can do that is by having success in the NFL.

Jack Blanchat, Rule of Tree: Sure. Why not go to the NFL? He could have continued his great pace at Oregon, but there's no reason for him not to go to the next level.

Andy Wooldridge, Building The Dam: Another questions we won't know the answer to for a while. If he lasts long enough to collect most of the $32.5 Mil he's in line for, then probably yes. I think its a very high risk move, though. I'm surprised he passed on almost assuredly becoming the Nick Saban of the West, or at least winning a National Championship, neither of which have the risk or likelihood of failure he's taking in Philadelphia. But Chip looks at everything differently than everyone else, and a hall of fame career probably isn't important to him.

Jon Woods, Ralphie Report: I don't like the Eagles but you can win anywhere in the NFL and Chip certainly has some pieces to work with. The money certainly works but it's hard to beat the advantages you have in Phil Knight's program.
