The Oregon State Beavers didn't waste any time finding their replacement for BYU head coach Kalani Sitake. Gary Andersen went right back to his roots at Utah State and found a defensive coordinator he was well acquainted with in Kevin Clune, who has gone onto great success with the Aggies after Andersen made his departure from Logan to Wisconsin and now Oregon State.
Kevin Clune officially announced as Oregon State's new defensive coordinator [Gina Mizell, Oregonian]: "Clune, who spent last season as Utah State's defensive coordinator, has deep ties to Beavers coach Gary Andersen, working under him at Utah State, Southern Utah and Utah."
Clune announced as DC [Beaver Blitz]: "Oregon State head football coach Gary Andersen has turned to a familiar coach to fill one of the two vacancies on his staff with the appointment of Kevin Clune as the defensive coordinator/inside linebackers coach."
Kevin Clune to be named OSU DC: [AndyPanda, Building the Dam]: "Clune was the defensive coordinator at Utah State in 2015, and the Aggies wound up 17th in the country in total defense (pending the National Championship Game), allowing 332.5 yards per game, and 13th in passing defense (in the pass-heavy Mt. West Conference), at 180.5 yards per game, though Utah State was 47th against the run, allowing 151.92 yards per game, and only 61th in scoring defense, at 26.7 points per game."
