Pac-12 basketball bracketology: Arizona 2 seed, Oregon 3, UCLA 4, USC 7, Cal & Utah on bubble

Who stands where?

NCAA Basketball: UCLA at Southern California Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

How does the latest BracketMatrix treat these Pac-12 teams?

Arizona Wildcats: 2 seed. Arizona hasn’t quite yet earned one seed status, but a win at Oregon could propel them over Gonzaga. They’d have beaten the other two top three teams in the conference!

Oregon Ducks: 3 seed. Oregon is holding steady. Their win over UCLA counts for a lot, as do wins over Tennessee, Utah and Cal. A win over Arizona could propel them into a very good spot.

UCLA Bruins: 4 seed. UCLA does have a great Kentucky win and a solid Michigan win, but other than edging out Utah the Bruins are struggling to get the wins they need in conference play against the best competition.

USC Trojans: 7 seed. USC has to be thankful for their non-conference undefeated record, because they are in danger of falling off the map at 4-5. Thankfully, a win over UCLA eases a lot of tension, but they can’t afford complacency.

Bubble teams

California Golden Bears, first four out: The lack of marquee wins is hurting Cal. They’ve beaten everyone they’re supposed to beat and lost to everyone they were supposed to lose to. A bad San Diego State loss might be keeping them out right now.

Utah Utes, next four out: Utah’s stock is rising. They might not have any big wins but they have a very easy schedule to finish and get to at least 20 wins.
