Some updates on the UCLA recruiting front, and it appears like the Bruins might have stacked up their offensive line recruits a bit too much. Some players appear to be taking a closer look at other horizons.
Sean Dowling had been originally committed to the UCLA Bruins, but he's opening it up. Dowling is considering one Pac-12 school out of five in Cal, Michigan State, Oklahoma, San Diego State, and Vanderbilt. The Fallbrook product is definitely an under-the-radar offensive line target that people should take a look at.
Then Erik Bunte did the same. Bunte had been committed to UCLA for sometime, but suddenly his recruitment reopened this past weekend ($). Bunte has a list of three schools that includes Arizona State, Cal and UCLA.
Additionally, Salesian cornerback Jermaine Kelly has decommitted. Kelly might be trying to see if teams want him on offense.
Everyone should be fine here. UCLA got some big commitments from big-time recruits like like Kenny Lacy, Alex Redmond and Christian Morris, and they currently enjoy seven verbals from offensive linemen. Dowling and Bunte enjoy plenty of interest from multiple schools.
It just reminds you that solid verbals are far from solid this early in the process.
