Today's recruiting update seems to be all about trying to hang onto out-of-state players. Both USC and UCLA have a host of decommits to worry about, although they both might have plenty of good news on the way.
The UCLA Bruins are on the verge of great news on two fronts. Tahaan Goodman is announcing this afternoon. Priest Willis will go at it later this evening. Both are best friends. Both checked out UCLA last weekend together. Tea leaves and dominoes and all that.
The USC Trojans have yet another decommit. Defensive end Jason Hatcher has decommitted from the team. It looks as if Kentucky, Louisville, and a host of other schools in the East will be taking a look.
UCLA is the favorite to land Eddie Vanderdoes, but that isn't stopping USC from pulling out all the stops. Check out how USC tried to impress Vanderdoes today.

Florida LB Matthew Thomas has USC in his final five. Thomas is considered one of the top linebacking prospects in the country.
WR Devon Allen receives an offer for a football scholarship at Oregon. UCLA and Stanford were previous finalists. Oregon might change the situation here, as Allen has always been high on the Ducks.
Similar to Jason Hatcher, the Bruins might also have to figure out how to get a Southern local to make the move to LA. UCLA and Tennessee might be battling it out for OL Christian Morris.
There is some local buzz around RB Ty Isaac from the Chicago area. Could he end up switching to Notre Dame from USC? He still hasn't visited the Trojans and his official to the Irish is this week.
OT Nico Falah got a nice, bizarre present from the Washington coaching staff. Falah remains committed to USC and is coming off a visit to the Trojans.
Can Washington try and flip UCLA commit in LB Myles Jack?
DL/FB Elijah Qualls has shut down his commitment and is solid to Washington.
CB L.J. Moore will take an unofficial visit to Cal. He will then either decide after that trip or wait til National Signing Day.
WR Ammon Barker reports that he's no longer committed to UCLA.
