KJ Costello recruiting: Michigan Wolverines, Stanford Cardinal, USC Trojans top 3

Who knows where he wants to go?

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports
Rancho Santa Margarita (Ca.) Catholic quarterback KJ Costello is still torn on whatever his decision might be. He has three programs on the table: The Stanford Cardinal, the USC Trojans and the Michigan Wolverines. But he remains torn between the three schools. [Adam Gorney, Rivals]

The buzz on Costello is the following.

Stanford: The Cardinal have long been considered the favorites. Stanford has recruited him for a pretty long time, and Costello seemed sold for a big period of time. But there appear to be new programs entering the fray. Stanford still should feel like the team to beat, but there is definite competition.

Michigan: The Wolverines are the team that have leapt into the mix. Michigan was a recent addition into the top 3, meaning Jim Harbaugh is hard on the recruiting trail. The Stanford and Michigan ties have been heavy so far on the trail, so Harbaugh might be coming hard and selling the success of the Stanford connection.

USC: This might be one time the Trojans are not the favorites. Costello was down to USC and Stanford at one point, but it sounds like there's less buzz around the Trojans these days.
