Phil Steele provided his college football experience rankings. The USC Trojans rank next-to-last in overall experience, not just in the Pac-12, but in the nation (Michigan is last).
It’s hard to say if this has any correlation with anything. The Oregon State Beavers are returning the most experience and have a ton of returning talent, but is anyone predicting a big jump this season?
USC is still overcoming sanctions that limited the amount of scholarships they could hand out, so the Trojans are stacked with 17 freshmen and sophomores on the two deep. The sanctions ended recently, so only now is USC able to recruit a full class.
Here are the overall Pac-12 experience rankings with regards to the rest of college football.
T-43. Oregon State Beavers
T-48. Colorado Buffaloes, Washington State Cougars
57. Utah Utes
T-61. Washington Huskies, Arizona State Sun Devils
T-70: California Golden Bears, UCLA Bruins
T-93: Oregon Ducks
T-103: Arizona Wildcats
T-118: Stanford Cardinal
129: USC Trojans
