Aaron Cochran is being looked at by several other schools, including the California Golden Bears, Oklahoma Sooners and Washington Huskies.

There are plenty of suitors out there for offensive tackle Aaron Cochran. A few have risen to the surface to be legitimate contenders. Those include the following schools.

320-pound tackle Aaron Cochran talks #Oklahoma bond, #Cal visit and #Washington interest footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?SI…

Cal: Possibly the favorite, although things are up in the air right now. The Bears have the ultimate trump card of Aaron's brother Matt. However, the new Cal coaching needs to convince Cochran that the Bears are the right place for him.

Oklahoma: Bob Stoops is definitely going hard after Aaron, and has made several overtures to the linemen (both on in-home and officials). Oklahoma has recruited the Central Valley exceptionally well. Expect the Sooners to put on a full court press to try and get him.

Washington: The Huskies definitely need offensive linemen and shoulder things up front, and Cochran would fill a definite position of need. There is a lot of overhaul on the coaching staff at the moment though, so they might face an uphill climb here.

There are numerous other schools involved, but expect these three to be on the final list.

USC Trojans defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes is examining his options just in case, visiting Washington, UCLA and Cal as well as scheduling Notre Dame.

remains committed to the USC Trojans. But one of the top recruits in the country is still trying to keep his options open. With no defensive coordinator, Vanderdoes is looking hard to ensure that he has a proper backup ready in case he doesn't like the replacement Lane Kiffin selects. Rob Cassidy of Rivals has more.

USC defensive tackle commit Eddie Vanderdoes is taking visits and establishing backup options. He's not worried about the future of Lane Kiffin at USC or because the Trojans struggled to a 7-5 season. Vanderdoes does want a safety net in the event that defensive coordinator Ed Orgeron decides to seek out a new job.

He had comments here with Greg Biggins of Scout ($), but those are behind the paywall.

UCLA and Cal already got officials earlier this year, with UCLA managing to bring Vanderdoes in the week the Bruins beat the Trojans and reclaim the Victory Bell. Notre Dame has already made at least one in-home visit to Vanderdoes after the conclusion of the season, and apprently the Irish are scheduled to get Vanderdoes's final official, according to 247 Sports.

But it's likely that when USC makes their hire for defensive coordinator, it's going to be real hard to detach him from his original commitment. As long as Oregeron remains in South Central, the Trojans should be able to recruit well and maintain the majority of their class

This is Farmer's second offer. He has already received an offer from Utah. Cal was his dream school growing up.

"I've always wanted to go to Cal since I was little," said Farmer. "It's my dream school. I used to play video games with Cal -guys like DeSean Jackson and Marshawn Lynch.

"When they offered me, it was like a dream come true."

Cal's academic standing also had a major influence on Farmer, a 3.7 gpa student at Notre Dame.

"Cal has 20 professors that have won the Nobel Prize and I want to major in some type of neural medicine or orthopedic medicine and they're a great school for that."

So far this season, Farmer has 30 tackles and two interceptions on defense. He's also added five touchdowns on 20 catches on offense. Farmer is teammates with 2013 Cal running back target Khalfani Muhammad. Both Farmer and Muhammad attended last week's Big Game.

Centennial defensive lineman Garrett Hughes made his commitment to the California Golden Bears.

The Bears landed their first defensive line recruit of the 2012 recruiting class. Garrett Hughes committed to the Bears on Wednesday night.

Hughes is the second recruit from Centennial to commit to Cal, with offensive guard Cameron Hunt being the other. Hunt actually was the one to break the news of Hughes's commitment to Cal. This becomes Todd Howard's second defensive line recruit since Tosh Lupoi departed last January. Cal was his first offer and Hughes was quick to accept.

"I decided to commit to Cal and I'm going to be a Bear," said Hughes tonight.

"I called Coach Howard and I told him that me and my family talked it over and it was clear that Cal was the best place for me.

"Coach Howard said he was really happy that I committed and that he thinks I can be a great player for Cal and he looks forward to coaching me."

Hughes is 6-3 and weighs 250 to 255 pounds. He isn't ranked by any of the major recruiting services, but all you have to do is watch the tape and see the schools were showing interest (Boise State, UCLA) to realize that he's clearly got talent.

His midseason senior season highlights indicate that (courtesy of Hudl). Here are his junior highlights.

You can see how good Hughes is at anticipating the snap. He has great agility, good pursuit, takes strong angles, and seems to have solid technique. He's versatile enough to play both inside and outside, although you figure that he's looking more like a defensive end.
