Arizona State's loss to Stanford gives UCLA a firm hold on the top spot in the South Division.

Each week, we rank the Pac-12's teams based on voting by our readers.

North

1. Oregon (3-0 0-0 Last Week #1)

Just when it looked like Stanford was going to dominate Arizona State and show that they should challenge Oregon for the top spot, they led the Sun Devils back in the game and actually gave the Ducks some more space between the two teams during their bye week.

2. Stanford (3-0 1-0 Last Week #2)

The Cardinal will probably have to beat Oregon in November, or lose a game to move from this spot.

3. Washington (3-0 0-0 Last Week #3)

The Huskies seem comfortable here, but will open themselves up to the bottom of the North if they can't beat Arizona at home Saturday.

4. Washington State (3-1 1-0 Last Week #4)

The Cougars have impressed enough early on to get themselves here, but now need to continuing impressing week-after-week against Pac-12 competition.

5. Oregon State (3-1 1-0 Last Week #5)

The Beavers may have that loss to Eastern Washington hanging over their head, but they have taken care of business otherwise and can slowly start climbing up the rankings if the Washington schools start losing.

6. Cal (1-2 0-0 Last Week #6)

The Bears are going to stay here next week too as they open up Pac-12 play with a road game against Oregon Saturday.

South

1. UCLA (3-0 0-0 Last Week #1)

Arizona State's loss to Stanford made UCLA the unanimous choice for the top spot in the South.

2. Arizona State (2-1 0-1 Last Week #2)

Even though they lost, fans gave the Sun Devils credit for losing to one of the nation's best teams on the road and making a valiant comeback.

3. Arizona (3-0 0-0 Last Week #3)

Wildcats still warming this spot until they face a real challenge this week at Washington.

4. USC (3-1 0-1 Last Week #4)

The Trojans could make a move for the number two spot if they can win at Arizona State Saturday.

5. Utah (3-1 0-1 Last Week #5)

The Utes continued to look improved with a win at BYU, but fans still seem to be skeptical of if they can compete once the Pac-12 season gets humming.

6. Colorado (2-0 0-0 Last Week #6)

After two weeks off, it's nearly October, and the Buffs are still undefeated. May get out of the cellar if they can upset Oregon State on the road Saturday.

Comcast

For those with a Comcast subscription to the Pac-12 Network, if you're in-market you will receive the regional TV channel in HD and a national channel in SD only. If you're out-of-market, you will probably get only the national standard definition channel. The good news if you subscribe to the Pac-12 Network, you should have access to the current online feeds for all seven channels.

Based on what you've seen of both teams, is Arizona State ready to hang with Stanford? Why or why not?

Phil Fraser, Ralphie Report: I think so. Accepting the fact that it was a far trip, an early game, and an option offense, I wasn't overly impressed with Stanford. Actually, after typing that maybe I need to rethink. That's a lot of negative variables.Still, I've been pretty surprised by ASU, so I think that they could hang.

Sean Reynolds, Block U: Hang? Maybe. Could be a good game.

Jason Bartel, Arizona Desert Swarm: Yeah, they'll hang. Don't think they'll win, but they can hang with anyone right now. Stanford struggled a little bit last week at Army, and ASU's shown that it can win a close game against a nationally ranked opponent. It'll be interesting to see if the Sun Devils defense can contain the Cardinal offense.

Josh Schlichter, Pacific Takes: I think ASU has the defense to hang with Stanford, but it will take a monumental effort from the Sun Devil offense to beat Stanford. Avoiding turnovers and winning the field position battle will be key if the Sun Devils want to steal one from the Cardinal.

Jack Follman, Pacific Takes: I would say yes, mainly because I don't think Stanford is a very dominant team. Even if the Cardinal win 11 or 12 games this year, I think more than half of them will be close games, and I think that the Sun Devils are good enough to take advantage of the openings that the Cardinal give them.

Anthony Cassino, UW Dawg Pound: Sure. If Army can do it, Arizona State can do it. Stanford plays a style of football that lets their opponents keep the game close, so pretty much anybody can hang with them. They played in 10 games last season that were decided by one score. They just don't have the horses on offense to pull away from anybody, so as long as Arizona State limit mistakes they'll be able to give the Cardinal a scare, and maybe even steal one.

Jack Follman and Avinash Kunnath breakdown why you should watch every Pac-12 game Saturday.

1. Arizona State at Stanford 4 pm FOX

JF - This is the first real Pac-12 showdown of the season between two teams that are expected to compete for their division championships. The Sun Devils showed that they are for real in their second season under Todd Graham by (technically) beating Wisconsin last week and the Cardinal are notorious for letting teams hang around. Expect a close one that determines a some of the power balance early in the conference.

AK - ASU had trouble stopping Wisconsin power last week. Is Stanford going to be a similar story or is there an upset brewing with the offensively-struggling Cardinal?

2. Utah at BYU 7:15 pm ESPN2

JF - This one always seems to be entertaining, and early-season rivalry games are especially fun. The Utes are trying to sweep their entirely in-state non-conference slate and this is by far the toughest match-up. The Cougars offense with athletic quarterback Taysom Hill showed that they can put up major numbers in their throttling of Texas, and Utah did the same in their 51-48 loss to Oregon State. This one could end up being a high-scoring affair.

AK - The Holy War is always a great and competitive contest full of fireworks. Can BYU's defense slow down Utah's offense? Can Utah's defense get it together?

3. Oregon State at San Diego State 4:30 pm CBS Sports Network

JF - The Aztecs have looked horrible thus far this season, but so has the Beavers' defense and it's on the road in San Diego. The Beavers should be able to put up a lot of points through the air on the Aztecs, but this could turn into a barnburner if the Aztecs can get their offense together and do the same.

AK - The Beavers might as well be in the Mountain West with their all-offense/no-defense thing. A road trap lures at San Diego.

4. Utah State at USC 12:30 pm ABC/ESPN2

JF - The Trojans showed that they aren't utterly terrible by blowing out Boston College and showed some signs of life in their passing game with Cody Kessler. They now have a chance to do it two weeks in a row against an opponent that should be strong, but very beatable. Still, watch out for the Aggies though, as they took Utah down to the wire and have one of the best non-BCS quarterbacks in the country in Chuckie Keeton.

AK - How will the USC defense handle Chuckie Keeton?

5. Idaho at Washington State 7:30 pm Pac-12 Network

JF - Glad to see that they are rejuvenating the old cross-state rivalry, but I can't imagine the Vandals are with how bad they have looked, and how strong the Cougars have looked thus far this season. Still, it's an interesting rivalry as the schools are literally a 10 minute drive away from each other and there was supposedly bad blood when they called it off a few years ago.

AK - WSU still has plenty of kinks, so any game they play against any opponent can be a competitive affair.

6. New Mexico State at UCLA 7:30 pm Pac-12 Network

JF - This one looks bad on paper, but the Bruins are going to be coming off a very emotional and draining, marquee road game, so maybe there will be a let down.

AK - UCLA has their final warmup test, and it will be brutal.

7. Idaho State at Washington 12 pm Pac-12 Network

JF - Washington's new up-tempo offense has been fun to watch this season so far against good opponents, so there should be some pretty impressive fireworks when they face off against an FCS opponent.

AK - Only thing worth watching is how deep the Huskies can go.
