The UCLA Bruins have big aspirations this year with all the talent they have amassed the last few seasons, and they are expected to handle their non-conference business. But of course UCLA has had their troubles in non-conference play last season, and they had to deal with a lot of dogfights all year long against practically every team.
UCLA had a tough go of it last season in Charlottesville. Virginia made life very tough for the UCLA offensive line and they got pummeled for four quarters. UCLA escaped with a win, but it set the tone for the rest of the season as the Bruins seemed to disappoint just as they were about to break through.
The Bruins shouldn't have as much to worry about in the Rose Bowl in their home environment; there's just too much talent for them to get ambushed like they did on the road last season. But they will be breaking out a true freshman quarterback and you can imagine that there will be some hiccups to start. A lot of variance is in play, but most circumstances should end in Bruin victory.
The over/under of UCLA and Virginia is set around at 54.
