It was a very good week for the USC Trojans on the recruiting trail, landing several big commits in the span of a few days. One of the biggest commitments was a Hawaii linebacker in Kana’i Mauga, who bolsters up one of the fiercest defenses in college football.

More from Conquest Chronicles on how Mauga fits in with USC.
Mauga may be a bit undersized to play the strong side rush linebacker in defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast’s system. However, he possesses the ability to make tackles in space and get into the backfield and wreak havoc. I could easily see him competing for time at the weakside or “drop” outside linebacker position in USC’s defensive scheme.
Trojans get fourth linebacker commit: "USC got an unexpected commitment from after an unexpected scholarship offer that went out this week to four-star linebacker Kana'i Mauga." [USC Trojans Football, Basketball, and Recruiting Front Page]
