Washington, USC And Stanford Most Disappointing Pac-12 Teams This Weekend

Neither the Washington Huskies nor the USC Trojans played all that well in an error-ridden 24-14 win for Southern California, and the Stanford Cardinal could not score at all against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Avinash Kunnath, California Golden Blogs (Cal) & Pacific Takes: Stanford. That offense still cannot punch it into the end zone on the road, and it wastes great defensive performances as a result.

Jack Follman, Pacific Takes: Washington. USC practically laid down in the second half with a conservative game plan and inefficient play but the Husky offense simply gave it away twice when they had a chance to really make it a game and maybe even pull off a second-straight upset over a Top 10 team at home.

Norcalnick, California Golden Blogs (Cal): I'll go with Washington as well, though it's worth noting that there wasn't a team this week that significantly underperformed expectations. Stanford lost in overtime on the road to a top 10 team, so I'll cut them some slack. Washington just got crushed in the 1st half by USC, then refused multiple opportunities to climb back into a game that they had no business winning anyway.

Trevor Wong, Conquest Chronicles (USC): USC. As good the Trojans looked during the first half, they were just begging for Washington to just take the game away from them in the last 30 minutes. A win is a win, sure, but their inconsistent play on offense is a little concerning and they can't expect their defense to continually keep them in games considering they still have to play Oregon, Arizona State and Arizona (the conference's top three teams in scoring offense).

Justin Karp, Bold Saguaros (ASU) and Pacific Takes: There sure was a lot of "meh" play throughout the Pac-12 last week, but despite getting a win on the road, nothing about the USC Trojans necessarily impressed me. This is supposed to be one of the two class teams in the Pac-12, but the entire team looked like they'd rather be jumping from a balloon from 24 miles above the Earth. However, some fool already was doing that, so they decided to turn in a half-effort against an overmatched Washington team that they should have beaten by 30. It doesn't matter in the long run, since it was a victory, but we already saw the Trojans lose with that kind of heinous effort, and they'll do it again if they're not careful.

Adam Butler, Pachoops and Pacific Takes (Arizona): Not into watching the vaunted Stanford power run attack get stopped on the goal line on back-to-back game clinching possessions. I suppose it's Bush-push vindication in South Bend but as far was what the Cardinal want to known for and as, they were beat at their own game and that's generally something that unimpresses me. Was also looking for some growth out of Josh Nunes following his performance against Arizona but we didn't get to see much of that. Alas, it certainly was not a throw friendly enviornment but 12-25 with a pair of picks just won't cut it.

Sean Reynolds, Block U (Utah): I'll go with Washington because with how unimpressive USC looked, I felt the Huskies could pull the upset at home.

Ute Football Central (Utah):
Is it possible to name two teams here? Furthermore, can it be two teams that played each other last week? If the answers are yes and yes, undoubtedly it has to be UW and USC. The UW defense is OK. Just OK at best and USC should have dropped a lot more than 24 considering the NFL talents on that team. Blows my mind how they are not the best offense in the country considering who they have. Now for the Huskies, USC comes to your house, well you're rental house and plays like that and all you can do is score 14? I'm starting to feel that my Utes might have a chance against you in a few weeks and we're terrible. Amazing to see how Sark hasn't put it together up there yet.

Scott Allen, Rule of Tree (Stanford): Stanford. The Notre Dame defense is pretty darn good, but the Cardinal followed up a 54-point outburst against Arizona with another pathetic offensive showing on the road. Too many errant throws. Too many drops. Too many predictable play calls. Disappointing all around.
