Pac-12 freshman of the year candidates: Addison Gillam, Myles Jack, Jared Goff?

Midterm grades: Who is your candidate for Pac-12 freshman of the year and why?

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Sean Reynolds, Block U: Here's an unconventional pick: Andy Phillips of Utah. Prior to the season, he had never actually played in an organized football game and, as Utah's kicker throughout the first half of the season, he's 11 of 11 on field goals and 27 of 27 on extra points. Automatic Andy.

Jack Follman, Pacific Takes: Tough call this year as I feel there are no clear cut leaders, especially on offense, so I'll go with Colorado's Addison Gillam because he leads the conference in tackles as a freshman.

Jason Bartel, AZ Desert Swarm: Doesn't seem like there are a lot of freshmen out there this year. I'm going homer pick and taking Scooby Wright. Dude can flat out play, and he has helped reinvigorate this defense by providing a new kind of athletic presence at OLB.

Josh Schlichter, Pacific Takes: There are a handful of candidates for this award IMO. Cal's Jared Goff has a strong case as the best freshman on offense up to this point, but on defense, there are a couple of deserving freshmen out there. Both Myles Jack from UCLA, and Su'a Cravens from USC have really stood out as future stars for the conference
