Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly participated in practice Thursday for the first time since injuring his right foot Sept. 13 against Colorado.
During the portion of practice open to news media, Kelly ran with the team during pre-practice stretching and threw the football, but he remained mostly limited, watching his teammates run through drills.
Coach Todd Graham has said the senior quarterback is an option for No. 20 ASU's Oct. 18 home contest against Stanford, but on Thursday cautioned that the Sun Devils were "just easing him back a little bit, just to kind of see how it goes."

Yesterday, I finally left the internetless cave I've been hibernating in, after the week and a half Mardi Gras-esquee Jael Mary celebration, to see golden boy Taylor Kelly has left the boot behind and hit the practice field. Now, is this a good sign to see our unquestioned starting QB replace his crutches with shoulder pads? Undoubtedly yes. But will we see him Saturday during the #MaroonMonsoon on Saturday? Absolutely not.
Even with our struggles against the Cardinal, Berco has proven himself capable enough to keep the offense moving in the right direction. Even though he isn't TK10, if you've read anything on Stanford this season, you're well aware the 2014 Cardinal are not their 2013 PAC-12 champion predecessors. A little bit of overconfidence compels me to say, "We don't need Taylor Kelly to beat this Stanford team!" Just like Foot Locker taught me, all of the greats have short memories. I assume that applies to 2-bit bloggers like me as well.
We will accept this award on behalf of @azathletics as it was sent to our office. #SorryKaDeem pic.twitter.com/skqnbMXJWE

The story of Columbus Day, Ka'Deem Carey's All-American plaque was mailed to ASU's athletic office and there's one major unanswered question from this tweet; of all people, shouldn't the American Football Coaches Association know the difference between Arizona State and that other school in Tucson? That's kinda what you guys do... Unless they assumed Ka'Deem Carey attending that other school in Arizona (not you GCU, never you) was a typo because we're a much better football school, right? Like why would an All-American running back go to a basketball school? Yup, that's definitely it. All is forgiven AFCA.
Put the new state decal in the back of new helmets! Sets the whole uniform off! #sundevilswag pic.twitter.com/MItpt9eKca

The newest addition to the "Desert Fuel" uniforms (which I loathe) is an Arizona outline helmet sticker with a pitchfork logo, placed awfully close to Tucson. Just when I thought ASU's uniforms couldn't get any dumber, they go and do something like this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM THEMSELVES. "But Ryan, what's the purpose of this seemingly meaningless helmet decal?" It couldn't be more obvious people; we own Arizona sports. The fact we haven't immortalized it in uniform form yet is simply mind bottling. Just staking our claim folks, nothing to see here. Move along.
Quarterbacks Devin Gardner of Michigan, Hutson Mason of Georgia, and Taylor Kelly of Arizona State were among 12 who missed the latest cut for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually to college football's top quarterback.

To end on a sour note, Jake "The Snake" The Second was cut off the Johnny Unitas Award Watch List, which is expected if you're going to miss 3+ weeks of action. Don't fret Devils! If you're worried no Sun Devil will bring home some hardware this off-season, remember the BiletniStrong bandwagon still rolls on... and that they'll be a 10 Point Preview blog waiting for you guys on Friday. Until then, go Devils!
