The Oregon Ducks land their fourth defensive back of the 2018 recruiting class in the form of cornerback Verone McKinley III. McKinley is from Carolloton (Tx.) Hebron, and continues a strong streak of Oregon recruiting.

McKinley is ranked as the 36th best cornerback, the 49th best prospect in the state of Texas and the 348th overall prospect by 247Sports Composite. McKinley is a three-star prospect (0.8875). McKinley held offers from Alabama, most of the Pac-12, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and most of the SEC.

Duck Territory: “This was McKinley's second visit in three months, and he quickly went to work on becoming a Duck the second time around. Now he explains why he committed to Oregon.”

Andrew Nemec, The Oregonian: "Coach Taggart is a real nice guy and he definitely has a vision," McKinley said. "It's definitely a family atmosphere up there with all of the coaches, the facilities are great and they have a plan academically to make sure all student-athletes are set up for success."
