Arizona Wildcats coach Sean Miller never seems quite satisfied with his recruiting classes. Already having three five-star players (per 247Sports) locked up for 2015; Miller has his sights set on Oakland (CA) power forward Ivan Rabb. Rabb is ranked as the fourth best player in the 2015 class by 247Sports, and is the best power forward. Suffice it to say, Rabb is a very good player. But what does he bring to an already loaded team like the 2015 Arizona Wildcats will be?
Let's take a look at the tape.
Rabb is 6-foot-10 and he uses every inch of it to his advantage in the low post both offensively and defensively, he is a great shot blocker and rebounder and also has a nice turnaround move he uses when his back is to the basket offensively. His dunking ability also stood out on the tape. His high school film reminds me a bit of this tape from Anthony Davis' senior season.
If Rabb commits to Arizona, he will likely fill the void left by Stanley Johnson leaving for the NBA Draft, as many expect him to. Rabb has mentioned, however, he does not expect to make his decision in 2014.
The most interesting part of the Ivan Rabb recruiting saga thus far came in July when Rabb mentioned he would be looking to team up with fellow top-10 recruits: forward Diamond Stone (#9) and guard Malik Newman (#3). Obviously, nothing is official, and Rabb does not seem to be as sold on this idea as Stone and Newman are, but if Sean Miller was able to land all three of these players, he would have six of the 22 best players in the Class of 2015. This would be one of the best recruiting classes of all time.
