DirecTV strikes back at the Pac-12 Network

The Pac-12 feud with DirecTV remains a war of words with no negotiations in sight.

So the Pac-12 Network has abandoned its plan to try and force DirecTV to the table anytime soon. They have launched a full-on assault to force fans of the conference to switch away and abandon the long-time gatekeeper of all your premium sports programming.

After the latest salvo of commercials produced by the Pac-12 Networks aimed directly at DirecTV to force people to switch en masse, DirecTV issued their latest retort.

"If this is how Pac-12 chooses to spend their money, that's up to them, but we believe it would be far more productive if they were to focus their efforts on working with us, not against us, to complete an agreement that would benefit their fans and give everyone a choice so they can decide if they want to pay for it or not."

It appears the Cold War between carrier and conference isn't ending anytime soon. DirecTV wants to negotiate lower carriage prices and thinks it can strong-arm the Pac-12 into meeting its terms. The Pac-12 wouldn't want to meet those terms anyway and risk endangering the stable partnership they have with the carriers they already have.

So you have one of two choices if you're a DirecTV subscriber.

  • Live without the Pac-12 Network as much as you possibly can.
  • Learn how to switch to the Pac-12 Network ASAP!
