Pac-12 basketball standings: Oregon Ducks back in 1st alone, can they hold on?

The Ducks are almost there.

Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The Oregon Ducks took control of the Pac-12 basketball title race early and have held on for dear life. With Arizona dropping a loss and the loser of the Wildcats and the Utes likely bowing out, Oregon has to feel like they're almost at the point where they can taste the crown. They're three wins away, destiny in their hands.

Arizona and Utah will eliminate one of each other this afternoon. That leaves Cal. The Bears face a difficult closing stretch (USC, at Arizona, at Arizona State), but if they sweep the table and get help from an Oregon loss, they'll share the crown with the Ducks. The scenario is pretty much the same for Arizona and Utah, both who need the Ducks to drop.

Oregon, Arizona, Utah and Cal also are in pretty solid shape regarding getting that first round Pac-12 Tournament bye. Colorado and USC are both two games back in the loss column, have tough games to play themselves, and need a serious collapse from one of these four teams to get into the mix. They also have to fend off challenges from Oregon State, Washington and Stanford to avoid dropping into the dreaded 8/9 spot and an almost certain second round elimination.

The current Pac-12 basketball standings are listed below.

#13 Oregon 11-4 -- .733 22-6 .786 W2
