For the most part, college basketball recruiting is tame. You don't often see the crazy occurrences and hijinks you see on College Football National Signing Day.
But, every once in a while, something crazy happens in college basketball. This weekend's crazy story? 2019 point guard LaMelo Ball, who is thirteen years old, has given UCLA a verbal commitment.
If you follow UCLA basketball, Ball's name is likely familiar to you. His older brothers, 2016 five-star Lonzo and 2017 three-star LiAngelo have both committed to the program already as well.
After the shock wears off about a 13 year old committing to a college basketball program, you realize that... LaMelo Ball is actually really good. His highlight videos (found below) aren't just him going up against other 13-year-olds. LaMelo Ball plays for a U-17 team, and has since he was 11 years old.
Lonzo Ball mentioned to CBS' Gary Parrish that, "People say Melo is going to the best out of all of us". Which is high praise, considering Lonzo is one of the best players in the class of 2016.
The first video below is LaMelo's high school summer league debut in which he dropped 27 points, while the second is from last summer showing his AAU team on which he plays with his brothers.
