Week 1 of the College Football season is perhaps the least entertaining because many teams start their season off with an almost guaranteed win against an FCS team. However, in the PAC-12 this year, the first week begins with 3 Power 5 vs. Power 5 games. Here are the predictions for the Week 1 season in the PAC-12...
Stanford @ Northwestern
- Stanford begins the season against a Power 5 team... but not a very good one. Although Northwestern is frequently seen pulling upsets, this game will belong to Stanford start to finish. Stanford: 31; Northwestern: 13
Grambling State @ California
-Don't expect this to be a close game... ever. Expect Jared Goff to put on a firework show in the first half, then to get pulled at half time due to injury prevention. This game should be over at the end of the first quarter. California: 55; Grambling State: 13
Weber State @ Oregon State
-Oregon State may struggle this year due to a new head coach, but any chance of an upset is unthinkable. Oregon State: 41; Weber State: 17
Washington @ Boise State
-This should be a fun game to watch due to Chris Petersen's previous experience as Boise State's head coach. There's not much chance of Washington beating the defending MWC champs, and 2015 Fiesta Bowl champions- especially at Boise State. Boise State: 31; Washington: 20
Portland State @ Washington State
-Washington State should begin the season with an easy win over FCS opponent Portland State. Washington State: 59; Portland State: 16
Eastern Washington @ Oregon
If Vernon Adams starts against his former team, this could end up being the most entertaining Power 5 vs FCS matchup of the year- only because of Adams transfer. Oregon: 51; Eastern Washington: 7
Arizona State @/vs Texas A&M
-Expect the Sun Devil defense to limit the high-powered A&M offense, and for the Sun Devils to get through the last 10-15 minutes pretty easily. Arizona State: 37; Texas A&M: 24
UTSA @ Arizona
-UTSA put up a pretty good game last year when Arizona visited, but that was still when Anu Solomon was getting used to the college game. Since then, he's drastically improved, and this should be an easy win. Arizona: 30; UTSA: 3
Virginia @ UCLA
-Virginia almost snuck out a win against UCLA last year, but expect UCLA to win by more this year. The only concern UCLA could have is how expected starter Josh Rosen does in his first college start. But expect him to quickly assimilate, and for UCLA to easily win. UCLA: 27; Virginia: 6
Arkansas State @ USC
-This game is one of many definite wins for USC, and nothing Arkansas State's defense can do would be able to stop Kessler. USC: 44; Arkansas State: 7
Colorado @ Hawaii
-Colorado should be quite improved from last year, and a game at Hawaii shouldn't be able to stop them. Colorado: 35; Hawaii: 16
Michigan @ Utah
-An intriguing matchup for Harbaugh's debut at Michigan, but Utah's defense along with Devontae Booker should be enough to clinch a win for Utah. Utah: 23; Michigan: 16
