The Arizona Wildcats have a few potential candidates to be the next defensive coordinator in Tucson via Michael Lev of Tucson.com. Lev does his best to try and find the proper candidates. Here are the names he found (you can click the link for his defensive line coach candidates as well), many of them with connections to either Arizona or Rich Rod.
- Chuck Cecil. The former Arizona defensive back is a senior defensive assistant with the Rams and has spent a decade with the Tennessee Titans as well. Giving the former Wildcat a boost back in Arizona could be the spark Rodriguez's moribund defenses needs to prop out of the doldrums.
- Peter Hansen. Currently at Stanford as the inside linebackers coach, the Cardinal seem to be building an extended coaching tree around the nation. Hansen played college football as a Wildcat and could be interested in an additional promotion to the defensive coordinator level.
- Ron West. Rodriguez worked with West at Clemson back when Rich Rod was an offensive coordinator earlier in the 2000s, and West spent a year at Arizona State with Todd Graham before heading back east to coach at North Carolina. Could West be sparked into returning back to the West Coast?
