Oregon Ducks to play TCU Horned Frogs in the 2016 Alamo Bowl

Oregon returning to San Antonio!

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a long and bumpy road for the Oregon Ducks, but they end up with the second spot and will face the TCU Horned Frogs in the 2016 Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. It's the second trip for the Ducks in three years.

Oregon started out in a shootout with Eastern Washington before narrowly losing to Michigan State in East Lansing. The Ducks then got a jolt to the system by getting routed by Utah 62-20. Oregon went through a slopfest with Colorado before losing again to Washington State, falling to 3-3 and ending their playoff hopes for good.

But the Ducks rallied for six straight wins in a row, including beating their rivals up in Washington again. They finished the season as the hottest team in the Pac-12, including a triple overtime victory over Arizona State, a dominating win against Cal, and shocking Stanford in Palo Alto. Oregon finished the season with a convincing win over Pac-12 South champs USC and winning a shootout against Oregon State in the Civil War.

Oregon faces TCU on January 2nd on ESPN, with a 6:45 PM Eastern, 3:45 PM Pacific start.
