Washington State probably wasn't thinking of the Sun Bowl after their loss to Portland State, but they rebounded for an outstanding season. They will play the Miami Hurricanes from the ACC in El Paso the day after Christmas!
Wazzu had a huge end-of-game win against Rutgers, had a close loss to Cal, thoroughly beat Wyoming, then came up with a huge overtime win in Oregon, outscored Oregon State, outlasted Arizona, and came a field goal away from beating Stanford. The Cougars rebounded with a big win over UCLA and convincing wins over Arizona State and Colorado, but an injury to Luke Falk ruined their Apple Cup chances, as the Huskies took that one.
This is Washington State's second bowl game in the Mike Leach era, the first being the New Mexico Bowl in Leach's second year as a 6-6 team.
Washington State faces Miami on December 26th at 11 am Pacific, 2 pm Eastern on CBS.
